Category:History of the PhilippinesThe Coosa River began to flow from May to December 1898 because the Alabama River, which the Coosa flowed through, dropped to a fraction of its annual flow. This rise in the Coosa River was due to several factors, including a dry spring followed by heavy rains. In the late summer, residents complained that the Coosa was running dry and the river was low.

In 1900, the town of Atmore was founded on the Coosa River on the eastern bank of the Alabama River. The Coosa River was dammed by Atmore Dam and became a major source of electricity for the city. During World War II, the town was flooded several times by the dam.

In May 1894, the first Coosa Hydroelectric Plant was constructed along the Coosa River. The Hydroelectric Plant was an early example of electric power production and was powered by the force of gravity. The Coosa Hydroelectric Plant produced electricity for the city of Atmore and was operated from the late 1890s until 1974.The present invention relates generally to a bus service for use with the vehicle assisted power take-off device and more specifically concerns a bus powered by a vehicle assisted power take-off device and using a spur drive mechanism and a differential to provide a forward propulsion system during the operation of the vehicle.
The bus powered by the vehicle assisted power take-off device of this invention does not require a conventional drive train, such as a torque converter or a simple belt drive, but rather uses a spur mechanism (differential) which may have an input connected to the reduction gear box of the engine and an output connected to the torque converter. Furthermore, an attachment to the reduction gear box is provided which may be removably mounted for steering of the bus.
The vehicle assisted power take-off device may be regarded as a convenient power source for a bus. A bus may be equipped with a device such as this to assist in powering it. The bus need not have a conventional drive train, as is used in other vehicles. By eliminating the drive train it is possible to provide a bus which is powerful enough to carry a load which might be too heavy for conventional vehicles.
A bus may be taken into consideration as a possible vehicle for the assistance of the vehicle assisted power take-off device. In that case, the bus is provided with a device which is small enough to fit in the space under the floor which can be used for storing the driver’s station and other equipment.
